Most first time visitors to Portland assume downtown is the place to stay. Sure It's ok, its got Forest park, Powells, and some good fancy food, but honestly Portland feels more Portland on the East side of the river.
Reliquary is located in the Brooklyn neighborhood of SE Portland. The closest options for a quick easy trip are Brooklyn Center Suites - No frills apartment style lodging located 6 blocks away with affordable short and long term rentals. Or you'll find plenty of quaint apartment Airbnbs etc right on top of us off SE Holgate and Milwaukie.
For those wanting to explore Portland a bit more, Staying somewhere near Burnside like KEX, Jupiter, or Grand Stark will give you the easiest range of exploration between neighborhoods.
If you're looking for Vacation Rentals, The most walkable neighborhoods to check out (from SE-NE are Division, Belmont, Hawthorne, Burnside/Kerns, Alberta, and Mississippi.

Do you need a post tattoo giant glass of whiskey and a basket of parmesan fries ASAP? RFs is a friendly and queer positive dive 1/2 a block to the north on Milwakie and they have what you need. If you're more in the mood for a fresh Flatbread pizza and a cocktail, Rainy Days Tavern is just a few yards further.
If you're looking for something more substantial, head towards Sellwood and you'll find Montelupo Foccaciaria. A hole in the wall restaurant and Italian market, specializing in Foccacia Pizza by the slice along with sandwiches and salads. Its NE Portlands sister restauraunt, Montelupo Pastaria is also great.
Bastion is a good option for something healthy or better for those with restrictions of any kind.
Go Outside
Just down the road from us is Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge. A 163-acre complex of meadows, woodlands, and wetlands in Portland on the east bank of the Willamette River. There are lots of trails to walk around wetland areas or to a view of the Willamette. (but caution, the wetland trails are mosquito heavy in the summer months)
Also nearby is Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden. A large Park with 2,500+ plants that bloom in spring & summer, plus year-round water features & trails.
